Here's how it happened ...

In 2002, Austin was just beginning to explode, and I was dreaming of a quieter place to live that was walkable, had some history, and offered the kind of porch-sitting, music-playing, recipe-sharing community that was the hallmark of the old South Austin I grew up in.  My family and I fell in love with Birdie House and Lockhart at first sight, and have lived here happily ever after.
